Jazz Dance at WiLoKi

At WiLoKi Dance Center, our Jazz Program is filled with energy, musicality, and creativity! From our youngest dancers learning the foundations, to our advanced students creating performance-ready videos, jazz dance is a vibrant part of our dance family.

👶 Jazz/Tap Combo for Ages 4–6

Our Level 1 Jazz/Tap Combo classes introduce young dancers (ages 4–6) to the fun and rhythm of jazz and tap through creative movement, beginner technique, and engaging choreography. These classes build coordination, confidence, and joy in movement in a playful and nurturing environment.

🧒 Level 2–5 Jazz Classes for Ages 7+

Starting at age 7, students may join our leveled jazz program, progressing from Level 2 through Level 5. These classes focus on:

  • Core jazz technique

  • Musicality and rhythm

  • Performance skills

  • Expressive choreography

  • Flexibility and strength

Our instructors guide students with care and encouragement, ensuring that every dancer develops both technical strength and a love for dance.

💫 Dance Company for Jazz Dancers

Jazz students ages 7 and up are invited to audition for our jazz-based Performance Company. This group provides dancers with additional training and opportunities to perform beyond the classroom, while developing discipline, teamwork, and artistry.

Advanced Company Dancers (especially in Level 5) will also participate in dance video projects as part of their skill development and performance training. These video experiences give dancers a taste of professional production and help them develop camera presence and performance energy.

📅 Semester Structure

Our Jazz Program follows WiLoKi's two-semester seasonal model:

  • Fall Semester – Skill-Focused: Technique-building, strength development, and performance mini-showcases.

  • Spring Semester – Recital-Showcase Focused: Preparing for our large Spring Showcase Performance.
