WiLoKi Competition Team

All prospective members of the competition team are required to participate in team auditions.

We will plan to hold 2 competition team auditions for interested students for the convenience of the team members. If you are unable to attend either of these dates, let us know and we would be glad to communicate about the situation.

Audition 1

• Saturday, June 7th | 1:00-3:00pm

Audition 2

• Saturday, July 12th | 1:00-3:00pm

The WiLoKi Competition Team exists to be an option of advanced training and performance development for interested students, as well as to teach students how to perform under pressure and learn to engage in persistent hard-work to advance step by step towards goals.

The WiLoKi Competition Team will have a core schedule, which all team members participate in to learn and perform the team’s core dances.

In addition to this, it will be available for team members to sign-up for additional dances, such as small group, trio, duo, and solo dances that we will take to competition events along with our team core dances.

Competition Team Core Dance genres will be chosen at the discretion of the Competition Team Director.

The Competition Team Core Dances will be the dances rehearsed during the Competition Team Core Schedule Blocks.

These dances genres will be chosen from season to season by the Competition Team Director, and will vary from season to season.

The only requirement for participation in the competition team Core Dances is the Dance Company Base requirement. Team Members’ option for additional dances will have the leveled class requirement.

For the 2025-2026 Season, the WiLoKi Competition Team Core Schedule will be comprised of 4 blocks.

Competition Full Team Block

• A rehearsal time for the entirety of the competition team to work together on a production dance.

• Competition Full Team Block will take place on Wednesdays from 5:45-6:30pm

Competition Team Lvl 2 Block

• A rehearsal time for competition team members who have attained lvl 2 proficiency in both their ballet and jazz class levels.

• Competition Team skill lvl 2 members will work on perfecting their skills and refining two group dances alongside the team production dance.

• Competition Team Lvl 2 Block will take place on Wednesdays from 4:15-5:45pm

Competition Team Lvl 3 Block

• A rehearsal time for competition team members who have attained lvl 3 proficiency in both their ballet and jazz class levels.

• Competition Team skill lvl 3 members will work on perfecting 2 group dances alongside the team production dance.

• Competition Team lvl 3 Block will take place on Wednesdays from 4:15-5:45pm.

Competition Team Lvl 4 Block

• A rehearsal time for competition team members who have attained lvl 4 proficiency in both their ballet and jazz class levels.

• Competition Team skill lvl 4 members will work on perfecting 3 group dances alongside the team production dance.

• Competition Team lvl 4 Block will take place from 6:30-8:25pm

Team members lvl 3 and higher are eligible to sign-up for solos, duos, trios, and group dances in addition to their Team Core Schedule.

Team members lvl 2 and higher are eligible to sign-up for trios and group dances in addition to their Team Core Schedule.

Requirements

• Participation in Competition Team ‘Additional Dances’ have the requirement to be taking a leveled class in the specific genre of the dance in question. (For example, if a team member wishes to perform a tap solo, they will need to be taking a leveled tap class throughout the 2025-2026 season.)

• Must participate in the WiLoKi Dance Company as the base requirement to be a part of the competition team.

• Must be a minimum of 8 years old.

  • *Or must have completed one full year as a part of the Mini Dance Company.

• Must sign the WiLoKi Competition Team Agreement.

We have arranged our 2025-2026 Season schedule so that team members may participate in their Dance Company Base and Competition Team Core Schedule on just two nights a week (Mondays/Wednesdays).

• We plan to attend 5 competition events during our 2025-2026 Season.

After auditions, when the competition team has been set, we will have “Choreography Week” in July from July 21st to July 31st weeks.

We will plan to have two 2.5 hour rehearsals for each core dance to set general choreography for the dances.

Team Travel Fee:

• One time seasonal fee of $120 per team member to pay for team heads to travel to events with the team.

• For families with more than one child participating in the competition team, children beyond the first will have a reduced team travel fee of $85.00

Choreography Week Fee:

• One time seasonal $30 fee per team member for Choreography week where team members will learn their Competition Team Core Dances.

Team Tuition

• $48/month tuition for weekly Competition Core Schedule Rehearsal Times

Costumes

• Competition Team Members may expect the purchase of up to three costumes for the Team Core Dances.

Competition/Convention Entry Fees

• We plan to participate in two competitions which also hold class conventions. Participation in these class conventions is expected to be near $300 per dancer.

• Competition Events charge entry fees near to $70/dancer per dance entered to the competition event.

We have a Fundraising Fund managed by team parents and hold a number of parent organized Team Fundraising Events and campaigns to help pay for team members’ Costumes, Travel expenses, and Competition fees.
